Take to the Streets for a Revolutionary May Day 2007!
The 1st of May is the day of the revolutionary struggle of the Working Class. Numerous struggles were waged in the past, but they are just as necessary today as they were in the past.
The basic reasons to take to the streets on May Day have hardly changed. Capitalism has a different face than before but its functionality remains the same: A small few profit off the back of the masses. It is an illusion to believe it to be possible to achieve social justice within this system. Capitalism survives off of exploitation and oppression. Only after fighting and destroying capitalism as a whole will it be possible to have a society free of exploitation and oppression. Capitalism does not hold a future for us – we must take the future in our own hands!
Against Reactionary Agitation!
We concretely get to feel the capitalist economy through cuts in wages and social services, layoffs, dole curtailments, education reduction etc. We are forced to compete stronger and stronger against others and are subject to growing performance pressure. The rulers then usually blame immigrants for the continuingly insecure living situations many people are facing. The goal of this reactionary agitation is to play workers against each other. The consequence is a racist climate, more and more assaults against immigrants and more repressive laws concerning asylum and foreigners.
Women’s Liberation Calls for Revolution!
As in the past women are especially underprivileged in the capitalist society: Gender based employment or layoff reasons, less wages for the same work, discrimination at work and at the same time they do most of the reproduction work at home as well. Women and men continue to be forced into the classic role models and men benefit off it. Patriarchal structures can not be abolished in capitalism since the rulers profit from this additional division between workers.
Education for Everybody!
Concerning education the role of schools in the future is becoming more clearer: educational reforms in Zurich have caused lessons to be eliminated in musical and mechanical arts so as to provide more time for math, business and science. This is an ideal example of how education in capitalism is not orientated after the interests of the students, but after economical capabilities. An obvious consequence of that is that the already huge performance pressure continues to grow.
Attack the G8!
At the G8-Summit, meeting this year at Heiligendamm in Germany, the political elite of the world get together to find answers to their inner contradictions and to develop strategies to further their collective interests. Wherever the rulers meet, they will be met by resistance.
Against Imperialist Wars – Solidarity with the Peoples War in India!
Imperialist wars are another means of the capitalists to secure their resources and their economical interests. In Iraq and Afghanistan the long promised democracy by the USA is nowhere to be seen and meanwhile the next attacks are being planned.
However in India and Nepal the Peoples Wars are fighting against imperialism. We support these anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist liberation struggles.
Freedom for All Political Prisoners!
Whoever revolutionarily approaches these conditions is criminalized and locked away. The past months saw numerous arrests of comrades.
In Italy 15 comrades were arrested in February because they were working on the construction of a fighting communist party. In Spain the state repression is mainly targeted against the Basque independence movement and in Turkey against the Kurdish and Communist movement. The similarities of these waves of repressions in these countries is that they are targeted against movements and organizations that have good networks and are deeply rooted in the working class. The reason is obvious: Whoever revolutionarily fights against the ruling circumstances is a threat to the rulers. The goal of state repression is the criminalization, de-politicization and intimidation of political opponents.
And whoever refuses to conceal their political identity in prison signs away their right to ever get out. The request to put Marco Camenisch in indefinite custody was turned down, he will however be in prison until at least 2012.
The struggle continues!
Solidarity is our weapon against class justice! Our Kurdish comrade Erdogan E. almost got extradited to the Turkish torture-state. A massive and wide solidarity campaign used numerous actions and demonstrations to secure his freedom – which was achieved after he was in extradition custody for a year. Other Kurdish comrades such as Mehmet Esiyok continue to sit in extradition custody. The struggle continues!
