Bush said he will send 21,500 additional U.S. troops to Iraq to quell its near-anarchy and for the first time acknowledged he had erred by failing to order a military buildup last year. |

WASHINGTON - About 40 protesters staged a noisy protest outside the White House demanding withdrawal of US troops from Iraq as President George W. Bush unveiled a plan that would add 20,000 more.
"Stop the war! Troops home now!" the demonstrators yelled in a non-stop chant at the property gates under the watch of security officers.
Bush had just finished delivering a televised address to the nation in which he said 20,000 more US troops were needed in Iraq to quell the violence but warned the bloodshed would not end any time soon. More than 3,000 US troops have died since the March 2003 US-led invasion.
Protesters carried signs reading "My brother is in Iraq. Bring him home now" and "Send the twins. Send George," a reference to Bush's adult twin daughters.
Tambourines and a large brass bell added to the deafening thunder of a man banging on a soup kettle as the protesters doggedly kept up their shouts.
Sam Crook, of nearby Maryland, held aloft a huge placard reading: "Lying is not leadership. Impeach Bush and Cheney."
Crook said he heard part of Bush's speech on a radio in the crowd. "Mostly a crock of lies, anyway," said the middle-aged protester.
The president "is doing this to save face. The next guy who comes (to the presidency) will be stuck cleaning up the mess," he said.
Jay Mason of The World Can't Wait organization, which wants to impeach Bush for war crimes, condemned the president's decision to deploy more troops, saying then-president
Richard Nixon had "made the same mistake in Vietnam."
Voters put Democrats in charge of Congress in the November elections mainly because they opposed the Iraq war, Mason said, and if the Democrats back Bush's proposal, "it's betrayal."
The Washington resident likened the current situation in the United States to Germany under the Nazis, citing concentration of power in the executive, anti-immigration acts and "mass patriotic appeals."
According to a newly released USA Today/Gallup Poll, 61 percent of Americans surveyed said they opposed a US troop increase in Iraq, compared with 26 percent who supported it.

Mich nerven langsam die ganzen Beiträge, bei denen wenn man die sprache nicht kann, kein einziges wort versteht. Auch wenn der Beitrag interessant sein kann, finde ich es nicht gut wenn nachrichten aus New York in englischer Sprache oder so einfach ohne übersetzung hier reingeknallt werden. Wenn das jeder macht... na dann gute nacht! Da sollte man schon ein bisschen Konsequent sein. |

das kann doch nicht gehen, das muss deutsch sein, schliesslich sind wir hier in der schweiz. wo kommen wir denn da hin?
im ernst: max, wenns dir nicht passt, dass gewisse berichte in englisch, französisch, etc. verfasst sind, dann such doch mal im internet nach guten artikeln, die auf deutsch geschrieben sind und stell die dann hier rein. aber das was du da oben rauslässt geht ja wohl grad gar nicht... |

Aufhören mit dem Krieg! Truppen jetzt nach hause!" Riefen die demonstranten nonstop an den Grundstücktoren vor den Augen der Security Offizieren.
Bush hatte gerade seine Fernseh-Botschaft ausgesendet, in welcher er der Nation berichtete, dass es im Iraq noch 20'000 weitere Truppen bräuchte, um die Gewalt zu mindern. Aber das Blutbad würde nicht in Bälde enden. Mehr als 3000 Truppen sind seit März 2003 gestorben.
Demonstranten trugen Schilder, auf denen "Mein bruder ist im Irak. Bringt ihn jetzt nach hause" und "Schickt die Zwillinge. Schickt George" auf bezug auf seine Zwillingstöchter zu lesen war.
Tamburinen und eine grosse glocke trugen ebenfalls zum erschlagenden lärm eines auf einen suppentopf schlagenden mann bei, als die Demonstranten weiterhin protestierten.

Der Präsi tut dies,um sein gesicht zu wahren. der nächste, der präsi wird, wird wohl die ganze sauerei aufräumen müssen.
Jay Mason von der "Die welt kann nicht warten" organisation, welche Bush für Kriegsverbrechen (impeachen?) wollen, verurteilen seine Wahl, um mehr Truppen einzuenden, sagte der damalige Präsi R.Nixon hatte im Vietnam den gleichen Fehler gemacht.
Wähler haben für den Kongress in den Novemberelektionen Demokraten eingesetzt, hauptsächlich weil sie gegen den Irakkrieg waren. Wenn die Demokraten nun Bushs entscheidung unterstützten, wäre es betrug.
Die situation in der Washington Residenz ähnelt Deutschland under den Nazis, ausgedrückt durch Machtkonzentration in der Exekutive, antiimmigration und "massenpatriotismus".
Die USA Today meldete neulich, dass 61% der befragten amis sagten, sie wären gegen mehr truppen im irak, nur 26% unterstützten das unternehmen.
